This Privacy Policy explains how Yappify AI (the company behind alif.ai), based in Ottawa, Ontario, collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you purchase and use our downloadable productivity application via our website (yappify-ai.com). By using our website or app, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. We use plain language to make our practices clear, and we’re committed to safeguarding your data in a lawful and transparent way.
Information We Collect at Purchase
When you purchase alif.ai through our Wix-powered website, we collect only the minimal personal information needed to process your order and provide you with the product. This includes:
• Name – for billing records and to personalize communications.
• Email Address – to deliver your download link, license information, and product updates.
• Payment Information – such as credit/debit card details, which are processed securely via Wix’s payment system. (We do not directly see or store your full payment card details; these are handled by Wix’s compliant payment processors.)
We do not collect any other personal data during the purchase beyond what is necessary to complete the transaction. No account signup is required on our site, so we won’t ask you to create a username or password.
How We Use Your Information
The personal information collected is used strictly for the following purposes:
• Order Processing: We use your name and payment details to process your purchase and fulfill the order.
• Product Delivery: Your email is used to send you the download link for the app (immediately after purchase) and to provide any license key or activation instructions if applicable.
• Updates and Support: We may use your email to send you important updates about the app, such as new version releases, feature updates, or critical bug fixes. We may also respond to any support inquiries you send. We will not spam you or send marketing newsletters unrelated to the alif.ai app.
• Legal Obligations: In rare cases, we may use or disclose information if required to comply with laws, regulations, or legal requests (for example, for tax records or fraud prevention).
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or any unrelated purposes. Your data is only used as necessary to serve you, as described above.
No In-App Data Collection
alif.ai is designed with privacy in mind. The app does not collect or transmit any personal data from your device back to us. When you use the app on your computer, it runs locally. We do not track your usage, content, or any data you process within the app. There are:
• No analytics trackers in the app,
• No hidden data collection of your usage, and
• No personal information transmitted from the app to our servers.
This means that aside from the information you provide at the time of purchase (outlined above), we do not gather any additional data about you or your use of the app. You can use the app offline (except for its integration with OpenAI’s API, described below) with confidence that we aren’t monitoring or collecting anything you do.
OpenAI Whisper API Integration and Your API Key
One of the features of alif.ai is integration with OpenAI’s Whisper API for speech-to-text transcription. To use this feature, you (the user) must provide your own OpenAI API key within the app. It’s important to clarify how your API key and related data are handled:
• User-Controlled API Key: Any OpenAI API key you input into the app is kept under your control. The key is stored locally on your device (to enable the app to connect to OpenAI’s servers for transcription). We do not have access to your API key, and it is never sent to us or any third-party except OpenAI. You can add or remove your API key in the app settings at any time. We advise you to keep your API key secure and not share it with others, as it grants access to your OpenAI account usage.
• Data Processing via OpenAI: When you use the transcription feature, the audio or speech data you provide is sent directly from the app to OpenAI’s Whisper API servers using your API key. The transcription is performed by OpenAI’s system, and the results are returned to your app. Yappify AI (alif.ai) does not intercept, collect, or store the audio data or the transcription results on our servers. All such processing happens between your device and OpenAI.
• No Tracking by Us: We do not receive any logs or details about how you use the OpenAI Whisper feature. For example, we do not know what audio you transcribe, how often you use the feature, or any content of the transcriptions. We simply provide the interface for you to use OpenAI’s service.
• OpenAI’s Policies: Because you are using your own API key, your usage of the Whisper API is subject to OpenAI’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. OpenAI may record details about API requests for their billing, abuse monitoring, or service improvement purposes. For instance, OpenAI may log the fact that your API key requested a transcription. Any data retained on OpenAI’s side falls under their privacy practices (for example, OpenAI has stated that API request data may be retained for a limited time for abuse detection). We encourage you to review OpenAI’s privacy policy and terms on their official website to understand how they handle the data you send to their service.
• Cost and Billing: Note that using the OpenAI API with your key may incur charges on your OpenAI account according to their pricing. This is separate from our product and outside the scope of our Privacy Policy, but we mention it so you’re aware that OpenAI will have records of your usage tied to your account with them.
In summary, alif.ai itself does not collect any data from your use of the OpenAI Whisper feature. Your API key and the data you process with it remain between you and OpenAI.
Third-Party Service Providers
To operate our business and provide our services, we rely on a couple of third-party services. We only use reputable providers and we limit what data is shared with them to the minimum necessary:
• Wix (Website & E-commerce Platform): Our website (yappify-ai.com) and online store are built on Wix.com. When you make a purchase, the transaction is handled through Wix’s secure infrastructure. This means your name, email, and payment details are processed and stored on Wix’s systems on our behalf. Wix acts as our data processor for this information. Wix is a well-known website provider that employs industry-standard security measures. Payment transactions through Wix are PCI-DSS compliant (ensuring your credit card data is handled securely). We do not download or separately store your full payment details. We have access to your order information in Wix (e.g., your name, email, product purchased) so we can provide support and updates. Wix may also use cookies or similar technologies on our site to enable the shopping cart and checkout process; for more details on those, you can refer to Wix’s own privacy policy. Rest assured, we only use the data collected via Wix to manage your order as described in this Privacy Policy. We do not share that data with any other parties.
• OpenAI: As described above, OpenAI provides the Whisper AI service that the app can connect to if you choose to use it. OpenAI will receive whatever data you choose to send for transcription, along with your API credentials, directly from the app. Yappify AI does not control how OpenAI handles that data, but OpenAI is a third-party service provider in the sense that their service is used within our app. We include them here to be fully transparent, even though they do not receive information from us about you – they receive it from you, via the app. Again, please review OpenAI’s terms for their handling of data.
• Email Service (if applicable): Currently, we primarily use Wix’s built-in system to send purchase confirmations and download links. We do not utilize a third-party email marketing service. If this changes (for example, if we start using a service to send newsletter updates about the app), we will update this policy. In any case, any such service would only be given your email and perhaps name, and only for the purposes you’ve consented to (such as receiving app updates). You will always have the option to unsubscribe from non-essential emails.
Aside from the above, we do not use any analytics services (like Google Analytics) on our app or website that would track you. We do not use advertising networks or social media plugins that share your data. In short, outside of Wix and OpenAI, your data isn’t going anywhere else.
Data Security and Storage
We take data security seriously and implement reasonable measures to protect your personal information. Some key points on how we safeguard and store data:
• Secure Transmission: Our website uses HTTPS encryption to ensure that the information you enter at checkout (like your personal details and credit card number) is encrypted in transit.
• Secure Storage: Personal data collected during purchase (name and email) is stored in our Wix account which is protected by authentication and security measures. Credit card information is handled by the payment processor (through Wix) and is not stored on our end. We do not maintain separate copies of your payment info.
• Limited Access: Within our small team at Yappify AI, access to customer information is limited to personnel who need it to perform their duties (for example, support or sending out update notices). Those with access are aware of the importance of confidentiality and your privacy.
• No Unnecessary Data: We deliberately minimize the data we collect. By having less of your personal information, we inherently reduce risks. We don’t collect what we don’t need.
• No Selling or Sharing: As stated, we do not share your personal data with third parties except the service providers above who help us deliver our service. We never sell or rent your information to anyone.
• Data Breach Procedures: While we strive to protect your data, no system is 100% secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach or security incident that affects your personal information, we will follow all applicable laws to inform affected users and take necessary steps to mitigate the issue. This includes notifying you via email and providing information on what happened and any steps you should take, if any.
Data Retention
We retain the personal information you provide (name and email, and purchase record) for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy. In practice:
• Purchase Records: We keep a record of your purchase indefinitely (or until it’s no longer needed) so that we can verify your ownership of the app, provide updates, and provide support. This record includes your name, email, date of purchase, and what product/license you purchased. Keeping this information allows us to confirm your eligibility for updates or to re-send you a download link if you lose access.
• Email Communications: If we send you any emails about updates and you unsubscribe or opt-out, we will retain the minimum information needed to honor that opt-out (for example, your email in a “do not contact” list) if required. Otherwise, we will cease sending you non-essential emails.
• OpenAI Data: We do not store any of the data you process through OpenAI within our systems, so there’s nothing on our side to retain or delete regarding your usage of the Whisper API. OpenAI’s retention of data you send them is governed by their policies.
• Deletion of Data: If you would like us to delete the personal information we have collected from you (for instance, your name and email after purchase), you have the right to request that. Please note that if you request deletion of your purchase record, we may no longer be able to verify your entitlement to future updates or support for the app. If you understand and accept that, we will comply with a valid deletion request and remove your information from our customer database (except for information we are required to keep by law, such as transaction records for accounting).
In summary, we keep your info only as long as needed for customer service and legal obligations, and no longer.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data. We aim to respect all users’ rights as required by applicable laws (such as Canada’s PIPEDA, or GDPR for EU customers). Your rights may include:

We do not use cookies to track personal behavior beyond our site or for advertising. Any cookies in use are primarily:
• Essential Cookies – for site functionality (e.g., session IDs for the shopping cart).
• We currently do not use any advertising or analytics cookies that profile you.
When you visit our site, you will be informed about cookies via Wix’s cookie banner if applicable, and you can choose to accept or decline non-essential cookies. (Declining essential cookies might affect the ability to purchase, since the cart needs to remember your items.)
Analytics: At this time, we do not run Google Analytics or similar analytics services on yappify-ai.com for tracking visitors. We only see basic information that Wix provides (for example, how many sales have occurred).
